“Thirty years and nothing to show, all the dreams lost long ago, she feels it’s time to move on and never look back.”
These are the opening lines to a song called Independence Day by View From the Hill. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYC9clot5TQ
During my morning walk, I thought of this beautiful song, as it made me think where we find ourselves and our businesses while we come to terms with COVID-19 and an uncertain future.
The song goes onto to say, “Life is empty now the kids are grown, she has the strength to stand alone, she is confident now it will be okay.” Many individuals have invested years in their business and careers, and they were ready for 2020 with ambitious plans and dreams, but this pandemic has put a questionable halt to that.
Like many, I was afraid for the future, and even though the 4th July has come and gone, there is still some uncertainty; however, I feel that in the end, everything will be okay.
That said, many have lost loved ones, relationships, and potentially their livelihood. But for others, the 4th of July has been a new form of Independence Day, because over the past three months we have all had the opportunity to review what we want to preserve, eliminate, accept or maybe create something new.
