Over the next decade, everything is set to change.
Entire industries will be redefined or cease to exist.
- Driverless cars will disrupt transport. Uber and Wayve plan to begin testing fully driverless vehicles on public roads in the UK from next year.
- AI will impact healthcare, education, finance, and creative work.
- Jobs we take for granted today, such as Executive Assistants, Claims Processors, Receptionists), are at high risk of being automated. As a result, these jobs will likely disappear, and new roles and industries will emerge in their place.
Whichever way we look at this – life is about change and this is definitely going to happen,.
I saw a Jeff Bezos in a recent video clip, where he said they focused on this question, which has contributed to Amazon’s success: What’s not going to change for our customers in the next 10 years?
It’s deceptively simple but challenging. And a necessary question to stop and ask.
So, here’s what I think is not going to change with your clients in the future:
The need to feel understood: They want to be seen, heard, and genuinely listened to.
Clarity: They’ll still need someone to help them cut through the noise and prioritise what matters.
Trust: is the cornerstone of client relationships. AI can provide answers, but it cannot offer discernment or remain calm under pressure; therefore, clients will continue to rely on your judgment, discretion, and ability to guide them through their concerns.
Transformation: They’ll want to see and feel the difference your work makes – your value
Presence: When things get emotionally or ethically complex, they still want a human to guide them.
I firmly believe that the businesses that will succeed despite AI’s acceleration will be those that build around what remains constant, that clarity will be your edge.
If you’d like to stop and think about what will remain constant for your clients, I’ve started running sessions with clients centred around this crucial question: What will remain the same in 10 years?
